My quest in offering my own product line has always focused on blending nature with science and stirring in integrity and honesty. As a young model I often went to the cosmetic counter in search of the perfect wrinkle cream and faced the challenge of discerning what ingredients and brands would bring the best results. I marveled at creams containing "sheep placenta" that boasted $100 per ounce price tags and skin care systems that required daily rituals of 5 products or more to get adequate results. (See the Cosmetic Counter Combat chapter in my Natural Beauty book). Through careful research and practical reasoning, I learned that the personal care industry sold a lot of false hope and fluff. More importantly, I observed that consumers seemed willing to pay for "remedies" without evidence of much improvement.

I knew I had to offer a better alternative and began to create a product line that was simple to understand, easy to use and would deliver effective results. Inspired by chemistry professor Dr. Allison, I set out in my kitchen to develop my first five skin care formulas. My home lab was soon churning out recipes tested by our high end Pavilions Salon clientele. By 1992 my skin care, hair care, bath and body formulas were in full swing with 25 products gaining popular reviews. I discovered dramatic results using botanical elements and Alpha Hydroxy Acids blended with natural plant extracts working as buffers to mitigate irritation. In 2005, Laura DuPriest Radiance Essentials earned a coveted spot on Home Shopping Network, PBS and America's Store.
